September 4, 2017 - Happy Labor Day!
Jonathan Isenor of Wanamingo
To Run for MN House of Representatives
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Minnesota House of Representative seat for District 21B. District 21B is made up of Concord township in Dodge county, the southern portions of Goodhue and Wabasha counties, and northern piece of Winona County – stretching from West Concord north up past Kenyon to Holden Township and then east over to Kellogg down along the Mississippi to Goodview back west to St. Charles. Before I introduce myself, let me first answer two frequently asked questions: First, I support the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution permitting responsible gun ownership. Second, I do not support any mass transportation that will be harmful to our community, such as the Zip Rail.
My wife, Laura, is a criminal prosecutor in Steele County. Together we have two children Jack (3 ½ years) and Dorothy (almost 6 months). I am a sixth-generation Minnesotan and I grew up in Southern Minnesota. I graduated from Blooming Prairie High School, St. Cloud University (BA), and Hamline University School of Law (JD and Certificate in Dispute Resolution). As a professional mediator, I am able to work with people who have opposing views and compromise. As a lawyer I am a fighter, ready to oppose weak arguments and unfair tactics. As both, I will use common sense to solve problems in our district but will fight bad policy and harmful proposals.
I love Southern Minnesota – particularly the small farming towns. I am running for MN Representative to stand up for our rural communities at the Capitol. I am running because our laws need to protect the health, safety, and well-being of all citizens – not just our legislators. Our laws need to make sense. Our laws need to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to do well in life and fix problems that need fixing. I will work with every individual, regardless of political leaning, and every community, regardless of size, within this district to ensure that our voice is heard at the Capitol. I have the skills and personal commitment to lead this district.
I have ideas to improve our district. Please visit my website www.isenor4house.com for more details.
I will help our middle class workforce. We need to support our rural schools, invest in reliable transportation programs, develop high school apprenticeships, and bring community college classes closer to home. Strong labor policies and laws will give our workforce the chance to retire with dignity.
I support accessible and affordable healthcare and prescriptions. We need to have reliable healthcare systems in place for our seniors and families. Entrepreneurs, farmers, and small business owners face rising insurance costs preventing innovation and growth in other areas. Laws that enforce market stability will be one way to ensure that insurance rates don't spike.
I back new energy initiatives that are being explored and developed right here in Southeast Minnesota. These initiatives will help us lead one of the fastest growing economic sectors, create new jobs, and improve our environment.
I am seeking the DFL endorsement because I will be strong voice for Farmer-Labor interests in Southern Minnesota.
Everyone is welcomed to attend my Campaign Kick-Off Parties and meet some other candidates who will be running in 2018.
